I have not done a lot of "original fiction" since I started doing fanfic writing back in 1994/95. Before that I had worked for three years on a political thriller story which wasn't all that political and not too thrilling, but I had fun writing it anyway. LOL. Anyway! In college I took a writing class and by that point I was up to my eyeballs in Dukes of Hazzard fanfiction writing, so shifting gears to something "original" was difficult. My first attempt I tried to clone Rosco and MaryAnne but that story peetered out on me. So instead I had had this idea for a Rosco story but the subject matter seemed a little too serious for ol' Rosco to get messed up in so I simply changed the Sheriff's name (to Jim. How freakin' original is THAT?!?! ROFL). I think most folks who know my writing would recognize that the Sheriff in "The Long Road Home" is Rosco without me having to tell y'all. LOL. I've often thought if I was going to do original fiction, I would probably work off this story and create a new series using the characters.
